She was lauded as the golden girl of the Glosse Posse – an exclusive group of friends that included Prince Harry, Tom and Tor Inskip, the Harbord sisters (Astrid and Davina), Guy Pelly, Julian Erleigh and Natasha Rufus Isaacs, so-named for their ties to Gloucestershire. Indeed, Chelsy was a regular fixture in the county, spending time at 'Club H', the basement den at Highgrove that had been designated Harry and Prince William's private space to unwind. Chelsy and Harry also went on holiday together in South Africa with her family, and she was by Harry's side at the Diana memorial concert in London in 2007. It was a formative relationship for them both. But eventually, having run the gauntlet of relentless and often stressful press attention – which she described as 'scary and uncomfortable' – they went their separate ways in 2011. A few years later, the glare of public attention would be beamed instead on the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, currently one of the most talked-about women in the world.

I've known for a while that Prince Harry's on-again girlfriend Michael K Chelsy Davy was going to be his date for the wedding. The British tabloids were talking about it months ago, even though Chelsy and Harry were off-again at the time of the engagement announcement. Chelsy managed to work her way back in (beej) and score an official invite. People Magazine just confirmed that not only did Chelsy get an invite to the wedding, she also gets to go to the Buckingham Palace reception, where the Queen will be! Oh, Chelsy. Girl, you have to let me in on your beej technique. It looks like Chelsy Davy is truly back with Prince Harry, and she's been invited to his older brother Prince William's wedding this Friday. Davy, 25, was confirmed on the guest list, revealed by palace aids this weekend, of those attending William's marriage to Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey. Not only will the blonde Zimbabwean be at the church service – she will surely lend her support to Harry, 26, at the private reception, where he is set to deliver his best man's speech late in the evening.

We're both similar and love the outdoors. ' She shows me a picture of her with a huge trout. 'I caught this with Missy on a trip to Burncastle, ' she says, referring to the lodge that the Percy family own in the Scottish Borders. 'Missy taught me how to fly-fish – generally, she catches them and I just reel them in, ' she says, laughing. Chelsy has always loved nature. She grew up in Victoria Falls, where she had 'an idyllic African childhood'. The Davy family comprised her mother, Beverley, an ex-model; her father, Charles, a wealthy Zimbabwean businessman; and her older brother, Shaun. 'I was always on the farm, running around barefoot with herds of buffalo, and elephants crossing the road. There were often monkeys on the tennis court, jumping up and stealing the ball. ' As there were few schools where they lived, the family moved to Bulawayo when Chelsy was five so she could attend junior school until the age of 14, after which she went to a nearby high school. 'And then, of course, everything happened in Zimbabwe, ' she sighs.
