My GPA is OK (3. 5). It was enough to pass pretty much any cutoff, but I don't think it was anything eye-popping. I did not use referrals for any application. The actual job search/preparation I felt that despite the fact that I was getting noticeably less responses than last year, I still had a decent "hit" rate. However, this year, the obstacles I faced last year were exacerbated by the fact that there was a dramatic reduction in the number of openings and every opening was getting thousands of applicants. Last year, there were so many openings that I couldn't apply fast enough; this year, I could go days or even weeks without seeing a new job posted. In addition, I had multiple onsites that were cancelled because headcount filled up - even though I had applied the day the job was posted and went through the process as fast as possible. This really made me put in perspective how few slots there were in comparison to applicants this year. My preparation involved skimming CTCI (for behavioral only), grinding a lot of Leetcode, and reading the Competitive Programmer's Handbook for more "exotic" topics like graphs, dynamic programming, greedy algorithms, obscure data structures, etc..

Save enough money for yourself, and if you are supporting your family back home, you may also send to them monthly. But do not ever forget to prioritize and invest in yourself because as an expat, there will be a time when you will retire and it is good that you have enough savings in order to go back home with a secure future. After all, we are not going to be working abroad and able forever so better that we prepare for the upcoming years.
If not, when the wait staff arrives, try to have your interviewer order first and choose something at that price point (or less). Also, be sure to pick an option that will be easy to eat while you're talking. (Hint: Forkfuls of Caesar salad are easier to maneuver than that massive sandwich. ) Finally, no matter how casual your employer may be, you want to put forward your very, very best self. This means: Stay away from ordering alcohol, even if the interviewers do. If you get the job, you will have plenty of opportunities to share a drink with them—the interview is not the time or place to start. How to Present Yourself An interview spent sharing a meal with your potential employers is typically more of a conversation than a Q&A format. So, don't be afraid to engage in a two-way dialogue. Yes, answer questions they ask you, but also insert any questions you have where appropriate, and know that it's OK if the conversation veers into more personal topics (e. g., "Where did you grow up?
