Whe re do t hey take place? Whe n do they take place? Wha t happens? Essentially, an Assessment Centre is a place where a number of candidates are brought together by an employer for assessm ent. It could be an employer 's premises or a city centre or country hotel; one company uses the f acilities at a Premiership Football Club. The range of assessments is detailed later but importantly, for the employer, it gives them a chance to see how a candidate performs not only individually but with other people. Typically, they take place after: a) A review of an A pplication Form/CV b) Some form of initial assessment. The initial assessment is usually an interview (either face to face or on the telephone) or, less commonly, a Psychometric Test. Assessment Cen tres can last a few hou rs or up to two days, de tailed below are a ll the compon ents that may make up a centre.
