Very Stressful, rush, rush, rush. Best part of the day is going home. Almost, you against the world mentality. No help from management. No help from Union. You have to put up with a lot of stress from passengers. My last straw was when Manager refuse me to see Medical attention at our clinic. When you get a regular run where you get mostly the same people everyday, it is better. It just takes 1 passenger to try and ruin your day. That is why you have to get Psyched up. Get your mind right. You always have your fellow drivers to vent to. Tell each other your stories of the days. Pros Good pay and benefits. Cons Just another number. Very Stressful This is a fun fast paced work environment. Employees need to be very careful of their surroundings due to the many hazards all round. As with any Large Company there are things thta need to be worked on but over all glad to have been apart of the ups and downs at the LACMTA ay my good days out weighed all my bad days. Am retired Now time for the second chapter:)
Stressful job. But it pays well and benefits are good. Once you've gained some seniority its better. Takes 5 years to get to top pay and you start out part time. Pros Good pay good benefits Cons Traffic and smelly rude patrons at times Not one day is the same. You never know what you may encounter on a daily basis. Even though work is unpredictable, the pay is good, benefits are great and you get out of work what ever you put in. I enjoyed working as a bus operator for the lacmta during my tenure. I learned a lot about myself and about others whom I've had the pleasure of serving. Very well paying job good benefits. The company provides very good buses to operate. The supervision was very nagement should have been more involved. Overall my experience at this company was memorable one. Lots of overtime available but beware you will have no social life. Felt like I lived there. But if you enjoy driving and speaking to the public, you will enjoy it. You deal with a lot of crazy people on the road.
When working here full-time as a driver there is not much room for a life outside of work. The pay and benefits are decent but the job does come with a lot stress daily. Pros Good pay, good benefits, good hours, many locations, and many promotion opportunities Cons Short breaks, no lunch, dealing with general public daily, and not safe. Good benefits and health care. overall a good company to work for must be on time. Driving buses from one destination to another collecting fares and selling transfers and day aling with the public. The customer comes first before the employee, don't count on your Union officials to help you out either they are on managements management & the union hold hands & work together against the employee. You are treated as a number & replaceable Pros A free bus pass for life Cons Take your money & run, don't look back Get yourself up for the day. Psyched. You are on your own. Union does not help. Management does not help. Go to work, do your job and go home, Mentality.
Working 6 days a week was mandatory, that sucks. It's union so some good things like pay. But your dues are always increasing with your salary. The day was very strenuous at times adhering the schedule and dealing with the public and traffic was very stressful at times. It was truly learning experience throughout my 24 1/2 years for LACMTA I would never leave this job, however the cost to live here with my children have become difficult. Metro has allowed me to take care of my family, I have a short commute and I'm close to home. I was a service attendant, and it was a great place to start but don't stay in that position forever. Try and advance past that because just like any other labor focused job they don't appreciate you. Pros Great benefits, job advancement Cons Repetitive, lack of motivation Very tasking, loved the contact with the public. The respect you gain for people in public service is mutual, and you can raise a family doing this job. We want to help you find great companies.
Help us be the best! Do these reviews help you learn more about working at LACMTA? Enough said. Company has a lot of favoritism not what you know but who you know. Unethical practices. Bus operators are not giving much respect, not enough rest time. Great fantastic good money good benefits great people lots of over time great chance to grow education if wanted promotions free bus pass for life and for family During my time at Los Angeles County Metropolitan Authority the work was very stressful and fast-pace; however I really enjoyed the camaraderie of my co-workers. Any driving job that you have will require you to be away from home but LACMTA pays you very well and pays on time.. if you absolutely need to take a day they will work with you. I miss my job there and hope to return in the future. Custodian (Current Employee) - Downtown LA - July 22, 2018 Awesome opportunities! Great place to work. Do your job, eat lunch and go home! Always be prompt, if you're on time, you're late! Keep your nose clean and stay focused.
